What is Salesforce?

Salesforce, Inc. is a San Francisco-based cloud computing and social enterprise software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider. The company was founded in March 1999 by former Oracle executive Marc Benioff, Parker Harris, Dave Moellenhoff, and Frank Dominguez as a customer relationship management (CRM) platform vendor. Salesforce has evolved into a SaaS giant over time, providing a variety of cloud platforms for specialized uses. Salesforce reported $7.72 billion in revenue in August 2022, a 22% increase year over year.

Salesforce’s fundamental concept is to provide affordable CRM software as an internet service. Before Salesforce, most businesses housed CRM software on their servers or employed local resources, which took significant effort and money.

Salesforce has a pay-as-you-go subscription model and stores all data in the cloud, making it available from any internet-connected device.

What does Salesforce do ?

Salesforce provides a diverse architecture of software solutions to assist teams from various industries in engaging with their customers, including marketing, sales, IT, commerce, and customer care. For example, by using the Salesforce Customer 360 app, teams from across a company may connect and share a unified view of customer data on a unified platform.

Salesforce CRM analyses customer data to provide valuable insights into customer behavior and needs. Salesforce delivers a comprehensive view of every customer engagement with a brand by bridging data silos from several departments.

Why is Salesforce used ?

Salesforce enables businesses of all sizes and industries to improve communication with their consumers, as well as grow their client base. Businesses often incorporate Salesforce into their ecosystem so that employees, regardless of department or location, can share customer perspectives from any device.

Salesforce’s automated workflows, unified cloud-based data management, and real-time tracking of customer statistics provide a 360-degree picture of the customer lifecycle. Salesforce claims that its safe and scalable cloud platform is used by over 150,000 firms ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 corporations.

Pardot, for example, is a Salesforce business-to-business (B2B) marketing automation tool designed to help organizations accelerate their sales with better sales intelligence, generate high-quality leads with powerful marketing tools, automate lead qualification and nurturing, and track campaign performance.

Salesforce Technologies

Salesforce has several new technologies that help customers, companies, developers, and business partners connect with each other.

Apex is an object-oriented programming language that lets developers use the Salesforce platform to flow and transaction control statements. Apex is easy to use, focused on data, hosted, aware of multiple tenants, automatically upgradable, easy to test, and has different versions.

Visualforce is a framework that lets developers make dynamic interfaces that can be used more than once and can be hosted directly on Salesforce. They can create custom pages inside a Salesforce organization or link their logic to an Apex-written controller class. Developers can use Visualforce pages to replace standard buttons and tab overview pages, define custom tabs, embed detailed page layouts, make dashboard components, customize sidebars in the Salesforce Console, and add menu items.

Salesforce Classic has been updated to become Lightning. With its component-based framework, developers can make SaaS apps that work on any device. It lets business users build third-party user apps on top of Salesforce apps, even if they don’t know how to code.

Salesforce Einstein is an AI customer relationship management system (CRM) built for the Salesforce Customer Success Platform. Einstein is made to give the sales and marketing departments a more complete and up-to-date picture of customers and potential clients. It’s meant to make Salesforce Customer 360 smarter and bring AI to everyone who is a trailblazer.
